Growing up in Los Angeles was an unforgettable experience. Many years ago, my dad was involved in the movie industry and grew up in a historic part of town called Encino, California. He lived across the street from the Jackson family, as his uncle was a producer back in the day. It truly embodied the American dream. A significant part of my upbringing was being surrounded by people from the Middle East, including Iran, Turkey, and Israel, and many others. My father taught me about the Bible, specifically the Old Testament. He always had Jewish calendars, and I naturally picked up the same habits. I taught myself to read and write, albeit rudimentarily, in Hebrew, listened to Israeli music, and had some form of 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐜𝐚 in our home. “The word “Judaica” describes Jewish ritual objects used in the home or in the synagogue across history, geography, and media” (Museum of Fine Arts, Boston).
